Sonnyboy Thread Starter. Joined Jan 17, Messages 4. In addition I have a laptop running XP Home. All systems have WM Player 11 installed. Vista and XP systems separately network well with the laptop. When media sharing I can see the vista machine in laptop list but not the other way around. Media sharing with the PS3 works well with both XP machines. However, when running vista I am not able to share as the PS3 does not show in the media player sharing list.
It seems to me that Vista has some quirky security feature that prevents the PS3 from connecting. Anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it. Found it. Although I had disabled this before and restarted my computer I had not rebooted the router ie turned it off and on again.
This was the important thing on my set up and I missed it. Hope this helps someone. Well vista has disappeared from PS3 again and I have gone back over everything but still no PS3 sharing ie Vista machine does not show up in PS3 as media server. A very hit and miss affair. No problems with XP. It seems that the PS3 and vista are just not compatible yet and that the manufacturers need to sort it.
Has anyone got PS3 latest firmware media sharing with Vista Ultimate, on a permanent basis. Joined Aug 4, Messages 1.
Media Sharing "Default Settings have been chosen which allow for the sharing of all media. In WMP11, all media has been added to the "Library" for sharing. Does anyone else have this problem with Vista, and does anyone have a solution as to how to stop Vista from searching for a "Public Network??? As Seen On. You are using an out of date browser. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. Media Sharing - PS3 and Vista. Any help on this would be massively appreciated. Bottom line, been on Vista laptop user only for more than 2years. When first got PS3 and that firmware uddate to enable media sharing - worked no probs whatsoever.
Couple of months ago, my profile got trashed on my laptop, meaning I had to set up another user profile on the laptop. On the finer settings, I've deleted the PS3 as a device and then reset it up - the PS3 is definitely showing as approved and is set to be able to view anything.
On the PS3 - it won't bloody access the laptop. I've disabled and reenable media server functionality on the PS3. It's found the laptop and is showing the WMP11 icon. But when I select it - it says 'Access to the Media Server is not allowed. It is possible that the PS3 system name has not been registed. Please check with the media server'. Bloody techno!!! Not running Windows own FW. Uridium Member. Click to expand Thanks for the reply mate. I did indeed just abandon it and installed the program you referred to - and it works brilliantly - thanks for the heads up!!
I've spent about 3 days faffing around with Windows Media Player to no avail!!! Brilliant - wish I'd looked here earlier. Many thanks for the link.
